J.S… From Speech Difficulties to Building Sentences
At four years old, J.S was living through a silent struggle. Difficulty pronouncing certain sounds, particularly the Arabic letter “ح” (ḥā’), made it difficult for her to express her simple feelings and thoughts. This caused her to feel shy about joining family conversations or playing with her peers.
When Jana arrived at one of the community centers of Nabd Syria Association, she did not simply meet a therapist. She found a specialized team of speech and language professionals and psychosocial support specialists who developed a comprehensive training plan for her. The plan went beyond speech exercises and incorporated carefully designed motor activities, such as building blocks and transferring small beads with a spoon, because we believe that the development of motor skills is closely connected to the development of articulation and communication.
Over three months of continuous sessions, supported by regular practice at home with her mother, a gradual transformation began to take place. Jana was no longer simply pronouncing individual sounds. She began saying “Good morning” clearly, constructing complete sentences, and telling stories with a sequence of events. Shyness began to turn into confidence, and fragmented words became flowing conversations.
J.S’s mother says through tears of joy:
“I never imagined I would see my daughter ask me to read her a bedtime story and then comment on it in her own special way!”
Despite this remarkable leap at such a young age, J.S’s journey with speech and language is still truly just beginning. Her young age means she will need years of continued sessions and ongoing language and auditory stimulation to reinforce correct articulation patterns and expand her vocabulary in line with her age.
Our ambitious goal is for Jana to enter school without fear of speaking or participating, but as a confident child who is proud of her voice and her words.

من صعوبة النطق إلى بناء الجمل.. رحلة جنى نحو التواصل والثقة
في عمر الرابعة، كانت ج.س تعيش صراعاً صامتاً؛ فصعوبة نطق مخارج الحروف، وخاصة حرف “الحاء”، حالت بينها وبين التعبير عن مشاعرها وأفكارها البسيطة، مما جعلها تخجل من المشاركة في حديث عائلتها أو اللعب مع أقرانها.
عندما وصلت ج.س إلى أحد مراكز جمعية “نبض سورية” المجتمعية، لم تقابل مجرد معالجة، بل وجدت فريقاً متخصصاً من أخصائيي النطق واللغة والدعم النفسي، وضعوا خطة تدريبية متكاملة لم تكتفِ بتمارين النطق، بل مزجتها بأنشطة حركية دقيقة، كبناء المكعبات ونقل الحبات بالملعقة، لأننا نؤمن بأن تطور المهارات الحركية يرتبط عضوياً بتطور مخارج الحروف والتواصل.
وعلى مدار ثلاثة أشهر من الجلسات المستمرة، وبمتابعة منزلية من والدتها، بدأت المعجزة البطيئة تتحقق. لم تعد جنى تنطق الحروف فحسب، بل أصبحت تقول “صباح الخير” بوضوح، وتبني جملة كاملة، وتستطيع سرد قصة متسلسلة الأحداث. تحول الخجل إلى ثقة، والكلمات المتقطعة إلى حوار متدفق.
تقول والدة ج.س بدمع الفرح:
“لم أكن أتخيل أن أرى ابنتي تطلب مني قراءة قصة قبل النوم، وتعلق عليها بطريقتها الخاصة!”
ورغم هذه القفزة النوعية المذهلة في عمرها الصغير، إلا أن رحلة ج.س مع النطق واللغة لا تزال في بداياتها الحقيقية؛ فعمرها الصغير يحتاج إلى سنوات من الجلسات المستمرة والتحفيز اللغوي والسمعي لتثبيت هذه المخارج الصحيحة في ذاكرتها العضلية، وتوسيع مفرداتها لتواكب أعمارها.
هدفنا الطموح أن تدخل ج.س المدرسة وهي لا تخشى التحدث أو المشاركة، بل تكون طفلة واثقة من صوتها وكلماتها. وهذا الحلم الكبير لا يمكن أن يتحقق إلا باستمرار الدعم والالتزام من شركائنا، لأن بناء المستقبل يبدأ ببناء كلمات الأطفال اليوم.
